SECONDARY SCHOOL COORDINATOR PROGRAMME

The Objective

To provide opportunities and funding to set up School Cricket Coordinators in select secondary schools of cricketing importance to improve game organisation, profile, and the retention of players at and beyond school.

The Concept

• New Zealand Cricket is providing funding to establish a number of School Cricket Coordinators to assist associations, in consultation with their local Community Cricket Coordinators and the relevant secondary schools, to appoint or support a person in select schools of cricketing importance to their respective associations, to ensure the effective organisation and running of cricket within these schools and the retention of players within and beyond secondary school. The funding is not a ‘top up’ it must be used to added value in each school through the completion of a three year schedule of designated improvement tasks.

• The role would require the progressive implementation of a quality assurance system in each secondary school that would improve its efficiency and ensure its sustainability by improving retention, including the transition of school cricket player leavers into cricket clubs.
