Entries are now closed for the NZCT Junior Boys' Competition for 2010/11. The competition commenced in the fourth term of 2010 and will conclude with a national tournament for eight teams from March 28-31 2011. It is open to all Year 9 students for the first stage of the competition (i.e. October to December) and Years 9 & 10 students for the second stage of the competition (i.e. January to March).
A record number of 170 schools and 2040 players are participating in the 2010/11 competition.
The seventh New Zealand Community Trust secondary school junior boys’ national finals cricket tournament was held at Owen Delany Park in Taupo from March 22-25 2010. Congratulations to Auckland Grammar School who beat Christchurch Boys' High School to claim the NZCT Junior Boys' Cup for 2009/10.
This prestigious development tournament competition has already seen a number of players graduate from it to the ranks of first class cricket. They include: Corey Anderson [Christchurch Boys’ High School], George Worker [Palmerston North Boys’ High School], and Harry Boam [Wellington College]. White Fern Sophie Devine [Tawa College] also played in the inaugural tournament.
